JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A woman who was charged with first-degree murder of a baby who was recovered from the Iowa City landfill is requesting the case be dismissed.
A landfill worker found the body of Baby John Doe on December 21, 1992. Investigators reopened the case in 2020 because of new advancements in DNA technology, leading them to Cindy Elder.
