Lime Springs man gets 10 years for meth distribution

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Lime Springs man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine.

Dustin George Burnikel, 45, received the sentence after pleading guilty in October 2025 to one count of distribution of a controlled substance. Chief Judge C.J. Williams handed down the sentence in Cedar Rapids.

Federal prosecutors say between June 2022 and January 2024, Burnikel received packages containing drugs through the mail from someone in California…
