IOWA CITY, Iowa — Two people remain hospitalized more than two weeks after a mass shooting in downtown Iowa City, as the suspected gunman identified by police has yet to be taken into custody.
The April 19 shooting in the Pedestrian Mall left five people wounded when gunfire broke out during a large, late-night fight. Authorities later identified 17-year-old Damarian Marshawn Jones of Cedar Rapids as the suspect and charged him with multiple counts of attempted murder, but he remains at large.
At an April 22 news conference, police said one victim — a University of Iowa student who was shot in the head — was in critical condition, while another victim was listed in stable condition. Three others who were injured have since been released from the hospital…
