Road closures set for Moncks Corner’s Juneteenth Parade

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – Moncks Corner Lodge #323 will hold its Juneteenth Parade on Friday afternoon.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday observed on June 19, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Texas and announced that enslaved people were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

The name combines “June” and “nineteenth.”
