South Carolina has become the first state of the East Coast to adopt the ‘Stop as Yield’ bike law, changing rules for how bikers can navigate intersections.
Under the new law, cyclists can treat stop signs as yield signs, which means if there is no oncoming traffic, they would be able to proceed without coming to a full stop. At a red light, cyclists must come to a complete stop but may move through the intersection once it is clear without waiting for the light to turn green…
