CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Several events are planned throughout the Lowcountry to celebrate and honor Juneteenth.
The federal holiday marks the anniversary of Union troops marching into Galveston Bay, Texas and enforced the Emancipation Proclamation for a final time, effectively ending slavery in the United States.
