Crews battle Charleston church structure fire

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Firefighters were out Saturday evening battling a church structure fire.

Crews responded within three minutes of the call and reported smoke venting from a single-story church in the 1300 block of Rutledge Avenue just after 7 p.m. Firefighters entered the building and attacked the fire while performing search operations.

The building was unoccupied and the fire was under control in less than 25 minutes. Investigators responded to the scene and determined that the fire originated in the kitchen area…
