Charleston Police arrest 2 suspects in connection with West Ashley parking lot shooting

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The Charleston Police Department has arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting in a parking lot in West Ashley on April 28.

Maurice De’Angelo Smalls Jr., 23, of Charleston, faces charges of first-degree assault and battery. Jamareon Tyquest Horlbeck, 24, of Charleston, faces charges of discharging a firearm into a vehicle, first-degree assault and battery and discharging a firearm within city limits.

Officers responded to 12 calls of reported gunfire at around 8 p.m. between two people in the parking lot of 1812 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, according to police.

No injuries were reported, but gunfire did hit an occupied vehicle that was not involved in the shooting…
