NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — North Charleston police arrested a man Friday after he fled a traffic stop and crashed his vehicle, officials said.
Keyonte Micheal Gambrell, 21, of North Charleston, was charged with failure to stop for blue lights and with disregarding a stop sign, police said.
The incident happened about 2:35 a.m. Friday near Peppermill Parkway and Ashley Phosphate Road. An officer attempted a traffic stop near Ashley Phosphate Road and Cross County Road by activating blue lights.
Police said the driver turned into a gas station on Ashley Phosphate Road, accelerated through the parking lot and turned onto Industry Drive after the officer activated lights and siren. The vehicle continued at speeds estimated above the posted 25 mph limit…
