MOUNT PLEASANT , S.C. (WCIV) — A viral video showing Mount Pleasant police officers wrestling an alligator in a neighborhood has captured widespread attention online, but for many residents in the Park West community, alligator sightings are simply part of life in the Lowcountry.
As warmer weather settles in and mating season ramps up, neighbors say they’re seeing more alligator activity this year and are urging residents to stay alert while respecting wildlife. “We’ve had at least four gator sightings,” said Park West resident Dakota Dahabi. “This year is definitely more sightings than in the past years that I’ve lived here.”
