CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A new permanent exhibit at the International African American Museum is honoring one of Charleston’s most decorated military heroes ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
The exhibit centers around a shadow box dedicated to Ralph Henry Johnson, a Charleston native and U.S. Marine who sacrificed his life during the Vietnam War to save the Marines serving beside him.
