‘Where is the fire department?’ 911 calls detail chaos at Middle Street home blaze

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) — As Sullivan’s Island Town Council prepares to consider next steps Tuesday night regarding an outside review of the fire department, newly released 911 calls are shedding light on the chaos that unfolded during a February house fire on Middle Street.

The fire on Feb. 7 destroyed the home and sparked community concerns about the Sullivan’s Island Fire Department’s response times. In the emergency calls, several of those concerns surfaced in real time.

“The back porch is completely on fire,” the caller said. “I got to get the hose.”…
