WESTON, W.Va (WDTV) – A North Carolina man has been sentenced to four years in federal prison following a traffic stop and hotel room search that uncovered thousands of fentanyl stamps in Lewis County.
Shawn Whitley, Jr., 35, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was sentenced to four years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
During a traffic stop on West 2nd Street, a Lewis County deputy found $2,040 in cash and five fentanyl stamps in Whitley’s pocket.
Investigators then searched a nearby hotel room where Whitley was staying, finding a backpack containing approximately 3,750 fentanyl stamps. Hotel security footage showed Whitley wearing the backpack shortly before police arrived…
