CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A newly paved quarter-mile stretch at Stringer’s Ridge Preserve is now open, marking the first phase of a multi-year effort to improve safety and access at one of Chattanooga’s most popular outdoor destinations.
The City of Chattanooga Department of Parks and Outdoors held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to celebrate the completion of Phase One infrastructure improvements at Stringer’s Ridge.
Supported by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Health’s Project Diabetes initiative, the project includes a newly paved path intended to improve visitor safety and park accessibility.
To commemorate the opening, community members and officials walked the newly completed quarter-mile paved section, starting at the Cherokee Trail trailhead at 900 High Ridge Drive and ending at the Stringer’s Ridge overlook.
