Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office employee faces criminal charges

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office part-time employee was placed on administrative leave following criminal charges and an arrest on Saturday.

The Chesapeake Police Department arrested Daniel Ward, 56, Saturday evening and charged him with one count of possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated.

Ward has served as a civilian part-time employee with CSO for two years, working in court security.

He is currently on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation…
