Yesterday we were on the cooler side of a stalled-out front. The word cooler is relative though as it was around 90 at my house (inland), but it was definitely drier. The front did cause a couple of strong storms to pop over northeast North Carolina. However, today that front has drifted just a little more to the south.
We will have some nice weather today. Expect lots of sunshine with a light northeast breeze. That breeze should keep our high temperatures in the mid 80s.
Dew points are in the 60s mostly with a few 50s.
So it will be fairly dry today. No rain is expected. If you do head to the beach, then keep in mind that it will be a bit breezy. Also, there is a moderate risk for rip currents from Virginia Beach down to Duck, NC.
Tomorrow we’ll still be pretty dry out with dew points in the 60s. We’ll have partly cloudy skies as the front hangs out to our south. There may be a stray shower or storm late in the day. High temps will be in the upper 80s.
The humidity will definitely climb Thursday into the weekend.
At the same time the front will creep north a bit and stall out over our region Thursday into Friday. There will be some scattered showers and storms on Thursday in the afternoon.
High temps will be around 90 degrees. The heat index will be in the upper 90s.
As we go into Friday a cool front will be approaching from the northwest as the first front sits overhead. The will create a good chance for showers and storms.
Heavy rain may be possible. High temps will be in the upper 80s with high humidity.
Both fronts will be around on Saturday. So we’ll likely have more numerous to scattered showers and storms. High temps will be in the 80s. I’m hoping that the fronts drop to our south on Sunday. That may dry us out some, but we’ll see. I’ll have more on that in tomorrow’s weather blog.
In the meantime… We are still watching 2 disturbances in the tropics. There is one that is east/northeast of Bermuda. It is moving steadily to the north/northeast. It is running out of time to become a system before it moves over cooler waters, and the wind shear increases.
The feature in the eastern Atlantic has a high chance of formation. It is moving to the west/northwest. It will stay on that track for a while. It has a high chance of formation. However, the majority of the models do have it bending northward in a few days and staying out to sea.
The dry/Saharan dust layer is not as big as the last couple of weeks. So there is more of a potential for formation…
