Christian County built a three-run advantage and held off a 7th-inning rally to knock off hosts Union County 3-2 on Friday night. The Lady Colonels improved to 13-7 while handing the Lady Braves only their second defeat in their last six games.
Jayda Turner singled in a run to give the Lady Colonels an early advantage, and Alexis Epps doubled the lead with an RBI single in the top of the 4th. A run on a fielder’s choice made it 3-0 in the 5th, but Christian County couldn’t extend the lead and had to hold off a Union County rally in the bottom of the 7th.
After a lead-off single by Karley Byrd, Miley Mendoza doubled in a run with no outs. Brylee Jackson grounded out to bring in a second run, but Jordan Turner got a strikeout to close out the game. Turner went the distance, allowing two earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks…
