School is out, but the city of St. Petersburg is still thinking about the youth. The St. Pete Parks and Recreation Department has begun its annual Summer Food Service Program. This program aims to provide free meals for kids 18 years and younger, running all summer, from June 1st to August 7th.
With school out of session, it can be difficult for some kids to find three square meals a day, which is exactly why a program such as this is crucial to sustaining St. Pete’s vibrant community. There will be numerous locations where this program takes place. The Summer Food Service Program is partially funded by a grant from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Summer Breakspot Program. No registration is required, kids can just show up and eat
