(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — As advertised last week, a potent Pacific low and moisture from Polo will combine across Colorado to bring a heavy rainfall threat tomorrow night (9/29) into Wednesday morning (9/30) for many!
STARTING OUT TUESDAY: Expect a few showers, mainly over the eastern plains. For the most part though, Tuesday is likely a drier day. Cloud cover may break up a bit in the afternoon before sunset as well.
THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT: After sunset, we’ll watch for clouds to build back in, with moisture bubbling north along I-25 in New Mexico, eventually moving into southeast Colorado through midnight.
HEADING INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING: By sunrise and the morning commute, heavy rain will likely have been falling for several hours across southern Colorado. That means flooding may already be occurring in vulnerable areas as you get out the door.
Give yourself an extra 10 to 15 minutes out the door Wednesday morning as a slower commute is likely, especially in Colorado Springs and Pueblo.
Heavy rain will continue lifting northward through lunchtime Wednesday, especially along I-25. As you can see, snow is possible over the higher terrain as well!
Rain will continue off and on through Thursday morning along I-25. However, most of the accumulating rainfall will happen Wednesday morning into the afternoon. As you can see on the map below, there are several locations that could see as much as 1-2.5″ inches of rain, while parts of Pueblo and Huerfano counties could see as much as 2-4″ of rainfall.
This type of rainfall could lead to dangerous flash-flooding threat on the Aspen Acres burn scar so PLEASE be extra careful in that late Tuesday night and ALL day Wednesday…
