COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Scattered showers are forecast for today with a few rumbles of thunder. Sunday, the rain will likely be more widespread and could fall heavily at times. Due to concerns for isolated areas of flooding to develop Sunday, tomorrow is a First Alert Weather Day.
First Alert Headlines:
- Scattered showers, with some thunder, today.
- First Alert Weather Day Sunday for scattered to numerous showers.
- Drier and cooler next week behind front.
First Alert Summary:
A cold front nudging in from the north will keep our weather unsettled this weekend. A second stronger front will eventually help bring in drier conditions behind it. A few light rain showers this morning will be followed by scattered showers likely this afternoon. Not everyone will see rain, but have the rain gear handy just in case.
Mostly cloudy skies will remain along with humid conditions through today. If you’re headed to any of the college football home games, have something like a poncho to keep you dry in case rain occurs over your area.
Latest model runs have delayed the timing of the onset for widespread rain somewhat for Sunday’s rainfall. Overall, rain chances remain higher for the second half of the weekend.
Sunday’s showers will likely become more widespread by late in the day, prompting minor flooding concerns.
We’re keeping a 40% chance of some morning showers Monday. Then just expect clouds in the afternoon with highs in the upper 70s.
