Lexington County names new fire station after fallen firefighter

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – Lexington County is honoring a firefighter who died in the line of duty 25 years after his last call, enshrining Jeffrey Chavis’ legacy with a new fire station that bears his name.

“Because of his leadership, this station is proudly named in honor of our fallen firefighter, Jeffrey V. Chavis,” an official said during the ceremony.

Chavis, 22, died after responding to a Lexington County house fire in 2001. Now, 25 years later, his sacrifice is not forgotten, as his legacy lives on in the new station…
