New pickleball facility set to open in Midtown Columbus this October

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – A new pickleball facility is set to open in Midtown Columbus in October, bringing eight courts to 17th Street.

Larry Bussey, the building owner, said he originally planned to develop the property into condominiums but changed course after running into issues with that plan. In 2023, he said, he began playing pickleball and reconsidered the site’s potential.

“So I was thinking, you know, maybe that building on 17th street would be a good indoor pickleball court,” Bussey said.

Courts and timeline

The facility will feature four indoor courts and four outdoor courts. Bussey said crews are currently working on painting the floors and completing other finishing touches…
