Lorain County’s property tax battle shows how Columbus is failing Ohio’s public schools

A civics lesson played out in a Lorain County Commission meeting last week, as school officials, city leaders, and residents packed the room to argue over local property tax exemptions.

The debate pits people who desperately need financial relief from rapidly escalating tax bills against educators who desperately need funding to keep classrooms running. It was a genuine no-win situation.
