Missing woman’s ranch hand to get another $85K under proposed settlement

RIVERSIDE, Calif — A long-running probate dispute tied to the disappearance of former La Jolla resident Dia Abrams may be nearing settlement, with trustees offering the missing woman’s ranch hand Keith Harper $85,000 to resolve a series of accounting and surcharge claims in the case.

The unsigned 998 settlement offer, dated May 7, 2026, says the payment would cover fees, costs, interest and damages and would require Harper to dismiss his claims and make sworn statements about disputed property.

The document says Harper must file a declaration under oath stating “that he either purchased or did not steal” several items believed to be missing from Abrams’ ranch in Mountain Center. Those items include multiple firearms, watches, a Faberge egg and a gun safe, according to the court filing.

The proposed deal follows a 2023 Riverside County court order that approved a term sheet as a settlement of the case. Under that order, Invenz Inc. was appointed co-trustee to manage the trust’s assets, including the ranch and financial accounts…
