More storm chances, increased heat on the way in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa — We began the day with mild temperatures, showers and thunderstorms rolling into Iowa from the south. These will continue, with some breaks, overnight into Monday.

Storms and showers will stick around central Iowa until around mid-morning Monday. The rest of the day will be warm and humid.

We may see some storms roll out of eastern Nebraska and into western Iowa Monday night into Tuesday morning. These look to fall apart as they move east into central Iowa.

We’ll see another round of storms late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. These are not expected to be strong. However, the next round Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening will have lots of heat and moisture to work with, along with favorable winds in the higher levels of the atmosphere.
