Severe Storms, Heat and Humidity Expected Across Iowa This Week

(Des Moines) The National Weather Service in Des Moines says thunderstorms are expected to develop and move into at least northern Iowa overnight and into Tuesday morning. Severe weather will be possible, with damaging wind gusts the primary threat. Some large hail and locally heavy rainfall are also possible.

Warm and humid conditions are expected today across southern and portions of northern Iowa, with heat index values potentially approaching 100 degrees.

Additional chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue through the week. Severe weather and excessive rainfall will remain possible at times through at least Wednesday…
