Man charged in threats against American-Islamic Community Center

MADISON HEIGHTS — A Madison Heights man faces decades in prison for allegedly leaving threatening voicemails targeting the American-Islamic Community Center.

The suspect is 35-year-old Christopher Andrew Lord. On July 2, he was arraigned at the 43rd District Court in Madison Heights on one count of threat of terrorism — a 20-year felony — as well as one count of computer crime, punishable by up to 20 years or more. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.

At press time, Lord did not have an attorney on record with the court.

The incident reportedly occurred June 28, when a representative at the American-Islamic Community Center discovered two voicemails allegedly threatening violence against people there. The community center is located at 27205 Dequindre Road in Madison Heights.

The Madison Heights Police Department learned of the incident June 29 and immediately launched an investigation. Just after midnight June 30, the police executed a search warrant at a hotel in Madison Heights, taking Lord into custody without incident…
