Pace honored in ceremony at Granville County Museum

Local historian Mark Pace was honored in a ceremony Sunday, June 18, at the Granville County Museum as a recipient of the Medal of Honor Award from the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Pace is the first recipient to have the award bestowed by Oxford’s John Penn Chapter of NSDAR.

“It is not the numerous societies or organizations that this individual is a member of, nor the titles they hold today, that is the key to receiving the DAR Medal of Honor,” Barbara Harrison, regent of the John Penn Chapter, said in her speech at the ceremony. “It is their leadership, as with his encouragement and support of everyone’s personal journey of their American Experience, without a trace of judgment or bias; their trustworthiness … highly sought for his advice, guidance and research skills oftentimes concerning delicate matters of home, church and state; their patriotism, as with their strong devotion to our country and to preserving its history; and their charitable services; as with their tailored programs, researched, written and delivered upon any request as his dedication to enriching our understanding of American history knows no bounds.”…
