More than a decade after UNC student Faith Hedgepeth was found beaten to death in her off-campus apartment, the murder case is set to go to trial in Durham County.
Retired Superior Court Judge Carl Fox said the long-running case has taken a toll on Hedgepeth’s family.
“It’s one of those cases that’s been pending a long time,” Fox said. “It’s gotten a lot of publicity over that time … it’s been a real ordeal for her family.”
