Located between Il Forno and Sazon, Duke’s new sub shop, Sub Central, is taking center stage at the Brodhead Center. The sub shop is under the same operator, Brenen’s Restaurant Group, as its two neighbors, which Duke Dining said will ensure similar quality. But does the new sub shop live up to that promise, or even surpass it? That’s what I went to find out.
The menu is often the first thing people notice about restaurants. Sub Central has a build-your-own station, specialty sandwiches, a few sides and some desserts. You can also get a bowl or wrap instead of a plain sandwich, adding diversity to the menu. For sides, customers can choose between jalapeño and sea salt chips from the fan favorite brand Miss Vickies.
The specialty sandwiches range from subs like The Club, similar to a classic Jersey Mike’s, to more specific styles like The Tuscan.
