EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Local food bank leaders are voicing their concerns about the future of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, including the interim CEO of El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, Kris Yagel.
Yagel joined KTSM 9 News anchor Andy Morgan live at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, to talk about the effects El Paso families are seeing with changes to the program under HR-1, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” The legislation cuts an estimated $187 billion from SNAP over the next decade, expands work requirements for recipients, and shifts more costs to states.
