On February 15, Eugene Police responded to a hit and run incident at W. 6th Avenue and Charnelton Street. The suspect, 22-year-old Dylan Matthew Hoffman, left the scene, heading east on the train tracks near E. 5th Avenue and High Street. Police officers promptly arrived to search for the truck.

Witnesses reported erratic driving and ignored stop signs by the truck before the crash. While an officer was talking to the victim, Hoffman drove past them. The police then tried to stop him near the old EWEB building.

Despite police efforts, Hoffman continued driving recklessly onto Ferry St Bridge. An officer managed to position his patrol vehicle to halt Hoffman, who was then arrested and taken into custody.

In the following investigation, police suspected Hoffman was intoxicated. Further investigation confirmed this suspicion, and Hoffman was transported to Lane County Jail.

Hoffman is now facing charges of Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, and DUII. His case, numbered 24-02267, is currently pending.
