Deaconess Heart Hospital celebrates 1,000th TAVR procedure

NEWBURGH, Ind. — Deaconess Heart Hospital reached a major milestone on May 27, when its 1,000th Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure was performed.

The patient, 76-year-old Dennis Rohleder of Jasper, Indiana, underwent the minimally invasive heart procedure at the hospital.

TAVR is used to treat severe aortic stenosis, a condition that is described as narrowing the heart’s aortic valve which can lead to heart failure if left untreated.
