Discriminatory treatment tells its victims that they don’t matter and their voices aren’t heard, according to Northampton County Council member David Holland.
He said he sees the effects of discrimination during his work as a psychiatric nurse, and it’s why he joined his colleagues in a unanimous vote to create a county human relations commission.
“When somebody has to deny who they are, I don’t care if it’s one time or if it’s a hundred times, it crushes your soul,” he said at the March 19 meeting.
