Potential school shooter in Illinois apprehended thanks to quick-thinking relative

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — Authorities say a potential school shooting in Illinois was stopped before it could happen, after a relative intervened and restrained a juvenile who was allegedly on the way to an elementary school with weapons.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 12:50 p.m. Friday to a home in the 2400 block of Helmar Lane in Plainfield Township for a report of “a male suicidal subject.”

“Further investigation shows the relative had discovered the juvenile was armed with a firearm and the relative dialed 911 while pinning the juvenile down,” the sheriff’s office said…
