The 9000 block of Victoria Gardens saw a heavy tactical presence Thursday as Brooklyn Park’s Tactical Response Unit carried out a high-risk search warrant, detaining five residents and arresting one adult male, police said. Officers reported clearing the structure without any injuries, then turned control of the scene over to the outside agency that requested the warrant as part of an ongoing investigation.
In a Facebook update from the Brooklyn Park Police, officials said tactical officers executed the warrant and safely detained everyone inside the home. The post listed how many people were detained and noted that the residence and its occupants were left in the care and control of the investigating agency.
What the tactical unit handles
The Tactical Response Unit is Brooklyn Park’s SWAT-style team, trained to secure locations and execute high-risk search and arrest warrants so detectives can safely process scenes, according to the Brooklyn Park Police Department. The unit’s responsibilities include handling situations where suspects may be armed or barricaded and prioritizing safety for officers and nearby residents.
