Brandywine Baptist Church in Chadds Ford to Mark Nation’s 250th with History, Music, and Community Gathering

As communities across the country begin commemorating America’s 250th anniversary, one of the region’s most historic churches is inviting the public to celebrate in a place where history itself once unfolded.

Brandywine Baptist Church will host its “Let Freedom Ring” America 250 celebration on Sunday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the church, located at 1463 Baltimore Pike in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. The event is free and open to the community.

Established in 1692, Brandywine Baptist Church is often known as “The Church on the Battlefield” because of its location along the edge of the historic Brandywine Battlefield, site of one of the largest battles of the Revolutionary War. According to church history, General George Washington’s troops camped at the church one night during the Battle of Brandywine in 1777, while Hessian soldiers occupied the site the following evening. At least five confirmed Revolutionary War soldiers are buried in the church cemetery…
