MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency confirmed to WVLT that a bear spotted in Maryville with her cubs, wearing what appeared to be a collar, was actually fitted with a GPS tracking device.
TWRA said earlier this year, the bear and her four cubs were relocated after they denned beneath the porch of a vacant home that was scheduled to be renovated.
Wildlife staff moved the family to a den in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The mother was then fitted with a GPS collar to make sure she remained at the new site until it was the appropriate time of year to emerge…
