OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A Chicago gang member who led Ogle County police on a reckless 100 mph pursuit on May 9 is now in custody in Cook County, officials said.
In an initial news bulletin, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said Jesus Castillo, 34, was wanted for identity theft. Police said Castillo stole a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and fled from pursuing officers.
At 9:32 a.m. on May 9, Ogle County deputies spotted the Jeep headed southbound on IL RTE 251 and attempted to stop it near the intersection of E. Eddy Road, but police said Castillo fled at speeds over 100 mph, turning on RTE 64.
