SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Friday, Utah! The heat continues to build today with highs in the 90’s across most of Utah with fire danger increasing into the weekend.

A ridge of high pressure will move through the region that will keep winds on the lighter side but still breezy across southwest Utah with an elevated fire risk.

Building heat

The main story through Saturday will be the heat that will build with daytime highs in the low to mid 90’s across central and northern Utah. Southern Utah and St. George will see triple digit heat with St. George topping out at 102°. The warmer temperatures will further amplify for Saturday with warm southwesterly flow streaming into the Wasatch Front.

Expect highs to warm into the mid and upper 90’s with Salt Lake expecting a high of 97° which would tie the record set back in 2016. If you plan on spending time outdoors, take precautions to keep yourself and others safe such as staying hydrated, wearing light colored and loose clothing, and limiting time in the direct sunlight…
