CLEARWATER, Fla. – A Fort Myers man is behind bars after police say he intentionally rammed his car into a marked cruiser stopped at a red light early Saturday morning.
The incident unfolded right around midnight on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard near U.S. 19. A Clearwater police officer was sitting inside his marked Ford F-150 utility vehicle when 28-year-old Garrett Burr accelerated his 2025 Kia Soul and smashed directly into the officer’s vehicle.
Emergency responders transported the officer to Morton Plant Hospital. Doctors treated him for minor injuries and released him later that morning.
Burr did not deny the allegations when questioned by investigators at the scene. According to police, Burr “intentionally struck the officer’s vehicle.” However, he refused to provide a motive for the crash and declined to speak further with investigators…
