Sandy school targeted in nationwide cyber hoax, prompting multiple evacuations

SANDY, Utah (KUTV) — Waterford School officials released a statement saying they were targeted in a nationwide cyber hoax after evacuating the campus twice in the span of a few days.

School officials provided updates on the investigation Friday, saying the bomb threats were part of a widespread hoax. They said the cyber hoax targeted many schools across the United States.

“In both incidents, our emergency systems functioned seamlessly, and our extraordinary faculty and staff guided students to safe, off-campus assembly locations within minutes,” the statement reads. “All students, faculty, and staff remained entirely safe and accounted for throughout both evacuations.”
