(NEXSTAR) – While other holidays and events are happening as early as possible this year, that won’t be the case for Father’s Day.
Before there was Father’s Day, there was Mother’s Day, but the latter helped to influence the former.
As the story goes, Sonora Smart Dodd was attending church in her hometown of Spokane, Washington, on Mother’s Day in 1909. Dodd questioned why fathers were seemingly overlooked and launched a celebration for them the next year.
