The Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church voted to close 21 churches on Monday during its annual meeting at First United Methodist Church of Pensacola.
“We just pray that while the buildings may be closed, that the ministry will continue in some form or fashion,” said Bishop Jonathan Holston, who oversees all United Methodist churches in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.
