A Detroit priest was outside his church when a loud crash near Saint Joseph Shrine suddenly pulled him into a scene that sounded more like a police chase than an ordinary Monday evening around the parish.
FOX 2 Detroit reporter Scott Wolchek reported that Reverend Canon Jean-Baptiste Commins, a French priest serving at Saint Joseph Shrine on Detroit’s east side, heard tires squeal and then a heavy crash near the church. Moments later, he saw a young man running from the scene with only one shoe on and blood on his face.
According to Wolchek’s report, somebody yelled for the man to be stopped, and Commins reacted before the suspect could get away…
