Central Pennsylvania children locked in bed bug-infested attic, police say

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — Numerous children locked inside a bedroom attic in a bed bug-infested central Pennsylvania apartment led to charges being filed Wednesday, according to police.

Police filed 14 charges against 49-year-old Michelle Husted, 25-year-old Andrew Miller, 28-year-old Leslie Warfel, and 46-year-old Chad Husted, all of Carlisle, Cumberland County, court documents show.

The charging officer from Carlisle Borough Police said in an affidavit of probable cause, a Letort Elementary School staff member reported March 12 having issues with a student who smelled like cat urine, and their relatives also smelled like it.
