SOUTHGATE, Ky. (WXIX) – Southgate City Council unanimously passed a new zoning ordinance restricting where vape shops can operate in the Northern Kentucky community.
The council voted June 3 to approve the ordinance with the goal of keeping vaping products away from young people.
Distance requirements from schools
Under the new ordinance, vape shops must be at least 1,200 feet from schools, daycares, playgrounds and youth-focused organizations. Shops must also be at least 600 feet from each other.
The city has two elementary schools and preschools.
Operating restrictions
Unaccompanied minors are banned from entering vape shops. Alcohol sales are prohibited. Hours are limited to 6 a.m. to 10 p.m…
