Repaving of Alcoa’s Diverging Diamond Interchange to impact traffic

ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) — A unique intersection in Alcoa will soon undergo an improvement project that will have some impacts on area traffic.

The Diverging Diamond Intersection that connects Alcoa Highway to Middlesettlements Road and Bessemer Street will be repaved in a two-stage project in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

An announcement from the city said that the project is expected to start on Sunday, June 21 and is expected to last no more than three days, but closure dates have not yet been finalized.

On and off ramps to Alcoa Highway will be closed during the first stage of the project, meaning all Alcoa Highway traffic must remain on roadway. Drivers on Bessemer and Middlesettlements will have to go through the Diverging Diamond and be unable to enter Alcoa Highway during this phase…
