Here’s a look at Arthur damage in one New Orleans neighborhood: ‘Debris flying everywhere’

Kirk Derokey awoke around 5:30 a.m. Thursday to the sound of thuds from debris hitting the outside of his home in the Lake Terrace neighborhood.

“It was just gushes of wind and debris just flying everywhere,” Derokey, who lives near St. Bernard Avenue and New York Street, said once the sun rose and the rains died down from Sub-Tropical Storm Arthur.

Residents around the New Orleans metro were surveying damage left behind from the disorganized storm that made landfall over Texas Wednesday and slowly moved across Louisiana overnight…
