Lewisville residents will have a say before new data centers move into the city

LEWISVILLE, Texas — Lewisville City Council unanimously approved a new ordinance requiring data centers to obtain a Special Use Permit before operating in the city.

Under the ordinance passed on June 12, developers seeking to build or operate a data center must first complete a two-step public review process that includes hearings before both the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council.

The ordinance creates a public review process and gives officials greater oversight of impacts on infrastructure and nearby neighborhoods, officials said.
